What to do if you need to cancel or postpone your wedding in North Wales due to Covid 19

Advice, guidance and special offers

Cancelling or Postponing

Due to the impact of the outbreak of Coronavirus, it is a difficult and stressful time for brides and grooms that have been planning their wedding for 2020. Mr Boris Johnson announced that from the 23rd March social gatherings including weddings will be prohibited for three weeks. Therefore, weddings during this time must be cancelled or postponed.

Little Welsh Weddings are members of the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners. The head of the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners, Bernadette Chapman recommends staying up to date with the news and developments: “I would suggest you consider postponing weddings between now and the start of May. It’s too soon to decide what to do with weddings after this date, all we can do is take it day by day. It is worth speaking with your venue and suppliers in the interim to discuss their views on postponement.”

When deciding whether to cancel or postpone, we would always advise you not to cancel. In a sense, you have already planned your wedding day. Therefore, it is only the date that is changing.

Wedding Insurance and Contracts

Several wedding insurers providers have already stopped selling cover to new customers and some have excluded cancellation due to coronavirus as part of their terms. Which.co.uk have asked 12 of the UKs biggest wedding insurance providers how coronavirus is affecting their policies and what are clients’ rights if weddings are cancelled, please see the link below:-

If you have any questions regarding your existing insurance policy, contact your wedding insurers directly. If you are postponing your wedding to a later date, ask your insurers if the new date is covered.

It is recommended that you look at the Contracts that you have in place with your venue and suppliers. Look at the fine print in detail. If a supplier isn’t available on your new date, look at their cancellation terms. Check whether they will give you a refund or whether there is a cancellation charge.
